Taming your To-Do List: A Guide to Getting Stuff Done!

Are you ready to tackle that crazy to-do list? I've got this simple system that's been a game-changer for me.

1. The Big Brain Dump:

Grab a pen and jot down every single thing you're telling yourself to do. If you have multiple to-do lists, this is the time to condense them and put all those tasks in one place. It might feel overwhelming to see all the things you want to get done, but stick with it - this is an important first step.

2. To-Do List Audit:

Time to take stock. Read through the master to-do list you just created:

  • How many tasks have you written down?

  • Any tasks that are repeated week to week that have overstayed their welcome?

Real talk: how does this master to-do list make you feel? Overwhelmed? Motivated? Somewhere in between?

3. What needs to happen this week:

At the beginning of the week, look at your master to-do list and make a fresh list. Your new list should include only the tasks that absolutely have to happen THIS WEEK. These are the non-negotiables, the gotta-get-it-dones (or there will be a consequence).

Each day, pick 3 things from your weekly to-do list that you will prioritise that day – no cheating and glancing back at the brain dump! It's like a to-do list with a laser focus.

With this strategy - you need to prioritise your to-do list. If you’re committing to do 3 tasks a day, your weekly to-do list can have no more than 21 tasks.

Summary

2 lists…

You have your master to-do list - somewhere to keep track of everything you want to do, at some point.

Then you have your weekly to-do list - made up of only the things that need to happen this week. More focus and progress. Less overwhelm and procrastination.
